Context Hint Template for ChatGPT Ads

Describe one buyer, one need, and the situation that makes your product relevant. Add a constraint only when it changes fit.

Working template

[Buyer or use case] + [need] + [situation] + [material fit]

This is a drafting brief, not official syntax. Replace every placeholder and turn the result into one natural description.

Context hint

Small ecommerce teams comparing email marketing platforms because they need Shopify integration, automated lifecycle campaigns, and predictable pricing as their list grows.

Build it in four passes

Start with meaning. Edit for economy afterward.

  1. 01

    Buyer

Name the role, team, or concrete use case that makes the offer relevant.

  2. 02

    Need

Describe the job, pain, or outcome—not a broad interest category.

  3. 03

    Situation

Add the trigger, comparison, workflow, or constraint that makes the conversation timely.

  4. 04

    Fit

Keep integrations, stage, geography, or requirements only when they change product fit.

Choose the intent moment

Research, comparison, and decision need different framing.

Research

[Role] researching [category or approach] to solve [need], with [important operating constraint].

Comparison

[Buyer] comparing [solution type] because they need [capability] without [tradeoff].

Decision

[Decision-maker] selecting a [solution] that meets [must-haves] for [implementation situation].
