Bulk Upload Context Hints in ChatGPT Ads

Use a valid JSON list—and include every hint you want to keep. A bulk edit replaces the existing list; it does not add to it.

The rule that prevents lost hints

Treat every upload as a complete replacement.

If an ad group has three hints and your edited file contains one, only that one remains. Export first, edit the full list, and verify after upload.

Use the right format

One cell. One valid JSON list.

Square brackets create the list, straight quotation marks wrap each hint, and commas separate the items.

Valid example
["A Shopify team comparing email platforms for retention", "A growing Shopify brand trying to automate lifecycle campaigns"]
Safe workflow

Export, edit, validate, verify.

  1. 01

    Export

Start with Ads Manager’s Export for edit file. This preserves the current IDs, relationships, and schema.

  2. 02

    Edit

Replace the context-hints cell with one complete JSON list containing every hint the ad group should keep.

  3. 03

    Validate

Check the brackets, straight quotes, commas, duplicate rows, IDs, and ad-group names before upload.

  4. 04

    Verify

Upload through Ads Manager, then confirm that the resulting ad group contains the intended complete list.
