Context Hint Checklist for ChatGPT Ads

Check the theme first, the writing second, and the launch mechanics last. One failed structural check matters more than a polished sentence.

Check this first

Does the ad group represent one coherent opportunity?

If the product, buyer need, creative promise, or landing page changes between hints, stop polishing and split the structure first.

The preflight

Eleven yes-or-no checks.

Read them in order. The early checks define the idea; the later checks protect execution.

  1. 01

    One theme

The ad group represents one product, use case, audience, or intent theme—not several unrelated opportunities.

  2. 02

    Identifiable buyer

A reader can tell who or what use case the offer is relevant to without reading a full persona.

  3. 03

    Concrete need

The hint describes a job, pain, outcome, or evaluation task rather than a broad interest.

  4. 04

    Useful situation

A trigger, comparison, workflow, or constraint explains why the conversation is relevant now.

  5. 05

    Material fit

Any company stage, integration, geography, or requirement included genuinely affects product fit.

  6. 06

    Natural language

The result reads as a description of relevant conversations, not a comma-separated keyword list.

  7. 07

    Creative alignment

The title, copy, landing page, and hint make the same promise to the same buyer.

  8. 08

    Room for variation

The hint is broad enough to cover different natural-language expressions of the same need.

  9. 09

    Testable hypothesis

You can explain what this version changes and which outcome would support or reject the change.

  10. 10

    Cluster coherence

Every hint in the ad group supports the same product, buyer need, creative promise, and landing-page destination.

  11. 11

    Bulk-edit safety

For a bulk update, the context-hints cell contains valid JSON and the complete list you intend to keep after replacement.

Use the result

Fix the first failed layer.

Checks 1–4 fail

Return to the brief and template. The idea is not yet clear enough to edit.

Checks 5–9 fail

Improve fit, wording, alignment, or the experiment plan. Use the scoring rubric for a repeatable review.
